When Dr. Fresch hits the decks, anything goes. The globe-trotting artist/producer/DJ is less concerned with genres and more with creating immaculately unruly vibes. “There’s a reason I redline my performances,” he says, “like, stop talking – fucking dance!” For over a decade, he’s explored electronic music’s maximalist terrains, operating across scenes without neatly fitting into one. Threads emerge – bass house, electro, trap, mid-tempo – but his catalog contains multitudes, including collabs spanning Tape B to Tom Morello, Habstrakt to Denzel Currey. His breakout track is still a show-stopper (2016’s “Gangsta Gangsta” featuring Baby Eazy-E), while the 2018 No Introduction EP honed his sound into a precision club weapon and 2020’s It Don’t Stop EP expanded the arsenal without abandoning the raw energy that drew people in.
He’s since let loose a string of singles that demonstrate an uncanny ability to stay ahead of the very curve he’s setting – devouring new sounds, collaborators, and styles to the tune of hundreds of millions of global streams, and festival billings spanning Lollapalooza to Electric Daisy Carnival. He also runs House Call Records, which has spawned mix series and live events, allowing him to foster a borderless community as well. Now, he’s thinking about how to expand that world yet further as he prepares to release new earth-quaking music — possibly his most focused yet.
