What So Not started making waves back in 2012, when the Aussie pair Emoh Instead and Flume caught the attention of dance music heros A-Trak, Nero, Flosstradamus and more, proving their sound was transcending electronic music genres.
What So Not debuted their 7 Dollar Bill EP in 2013, pushing a new level of intensity and defining their sound as the new wave of electronic production coming out of Australia. What So Not gained international support by gracing the track lists of legends like Boys Noize and Tiga, as well as being featured on Major Lazer’s Free the Universe LP with their “Get Free” remix. The duo’s rising popularity gained the eye of Skrillex, and he quickly signed them to his OWSLA label for the release of their sophomore EP, The Quack.
Now standing as Emoh Instead’s solo project, the What So Not brand is continuing to evolve into something beyond just the music. Emoh has been focusing on the next chapter of What So Not, collaborating with various musicians like George Maple, Dillion Francis, Skrillex and 1970s rock band Toto, as well as collaborations with multiple visual artists and creative minds to submerse live crowds in the complete What So Not experience. In addition to his global festival circuit this summer, a second EP, Gemini, is set to release later this year on OWSLA.
