Two culturally rich cities, Buffalo and New Orleans, are coming together to celebrate their similarities this Labor Day Weekend. MNM Presents, along with a group of local community leaders, organizations and promoters are proud to present Rebirth Brass Band & so much more, at the historic Babeville Church.
Featuring New Orleans’ world famous Second Line kings, REBIRTH BRASS BAND, and the Academy Award nominated documentary “Trouble the Water”, this event is sure to bring our city to its feet. This event, aside from some incredible music, is focused on raising awareness and proceeds for the SBEC and its Second Line Education Center Project. Put simply, every dime goes to help students and schools in both Buffalo and New Orleans. Neat.
On Labor Day, historic Asbury Hall at Babeville will be brimming with the music that makes these two cities so special. From 4 PM to 930PM New Orleans own Rebirth Brass Band will headline an evening of music and dance.

Simply put, the Rebirth Brass Band is a New Orleans institution. Formed in 1983 by the now infamous Frazier brothers, the band has evolved from playing the streets of the French Quarter to playing festivals and stages all over the world. Rebirth has always been committed to upholding the tradition of New Orleans brass bands while at the same time incorporating modern music into their show. In fact, expect an exclusive MJ surprise this night!
Their signature brand of heavy funk has not only won over several generations of music lovers, it has become the soundtrack to an entire city.
As capable with spirituals and rags as it is with brass-band boogie, Rebirth is a regular highlight of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. It should be noted:: Ani Difranco, who has agreed to put up her venue for this, included Rebirth as a special guest on her last album, the highly acclaimed “Red Letter Year.”
Bringing out the Cajun flavor, Lagniappe’s will be cooking up a good ol’ New Orleans style crawfish boil. Get your napkins ready!
Local grassroots organizations South Buffalo Education Center, PUSH, Buffalo REuse, Urban Image Workshop and others will be on hand to provide information about their positive and progressive community revitalization organizations followed by the MAIN EVENT, REBIRTH BRASS BAND on the STAGE IN BABEVILLE’S ASBURY HALL @ 7 PM!!
