Known as the keyboardist from the nationally successful duo Manhattan Project, Charlie Lindner is much more than an electronic wizard. In 2009 Charlie started an epic journey with one of Rochester’s talented drummer’s Shawn Drogan. Within 5 years the two played over 200 shows within in the United States, know as one of the best live electronic forces around. By the end of 2014, after years of touring the two decided to take a hiatus and independently peruse different musical genres. Charlie distinctly chose to go back to his roots, JAZZ!!

Born in Rochester, NY, Charlie (Charles) Lindner started playing piano on his Grandmother Lindner’s Lowey Organ at age 8. Charlie’s father, Richard, began to teach him basic songs on an electronic keyboard and a year later his parents purchased a piano. With his constant thirst for the learning of music composition and theory, Charlie studied jazz under the guidance of Richard Delaney at the Hochstein School of Music. While attending RIT and achieving a degree in Packaging Science, he played with the band Derelict Brew, which had regional success as an original progressive rock group. Uninterested in the corporate structure, Charlie pursued his love for music and joined the Chris Beard Blues Band in 2004. At this time, he was listening to Soulive and Medeski, Martin & Wood and had a fusion jazz band called The Move. In 2007 Charlie started teaching piano and continued his jazz studies at Robert Wesleyan College under jazz pianist Mike Van Allen. During his studies, Charlie began playing in an original funk band called The Macro Meltdown which led to The Manhattan Project.

Charlie was featured on WBER 90.5- Elektro Bank and Sunday Night Shake Down on 98.9 The Buzz to promote his October 2015 concert at Hochstein Performance Hall in Rochester. With the musical repertoire that included Mozart to Nirvana, and original jazz compositions Charlie played on a grand piano that entertained, amazed and engaged the audience from beginning till end with help of drummer Matt Ramerman and upright bassist Kyle Vock..

Today Charlie continues his piano studies in jazz with his teacher and friend Mike Van Allen and classical music with Emma Yun-chieh Hsieh, a graduated of the Eastman School of Music. Charlie also teaches private piano lessons and is currently working on three full length albums for 2016. He continues to be a staple in the Rochester music scene, playing with some of the best local and national musicians.
